Supporting Wildflower Verges

At this month’s Full Council the Liberal Democrats were happy to support a Green Party motion allowing grass verges to become colourful, insect havens through wild flower growth. We have seen a marked decline in our wildlife over the past few years, including our bee population. Cllr Meena Minnis (Timperley) said;

“Other Councils are already doing this to provide greater biodiversity and encourage wildlife, we need to save our bees and other insects. In The Netherlands we have even seen bus roofs being used as mini wildflower gardens, that genius!”

We in the Liberal Democrats will always look at the holistic approach, safeguarding our wildlife and encouraging greater biodiversity will aid in helping to create diverse local environments which in turn can have knock on effects for pollution, mental and physical health.
